Thiruvanthapuram: The Kerala cabinet has appointed K J Mathew as the new chief secretary on Wednesday. This was disclosed by the chief minister V S Achuthanandhan after the cabinet meet. K J Mathew, Additional Chief Secretary in charge of Home department, here has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Kerala.
He succeeds P J Thomas, who is going on deputation to the Centre as Secretary, Parliamentary Affairs.
Briefing reporters Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said Neela Gangadharan would take over as the new Additional Chief Secretary (Home).
On the posting of Mathew, bypassing seniority of other IAS officers who were on central deputation, he said the cabinet had considered those who were doing their duties within the state.
The govt has planned to do away with entrance exam for BSc nursing, MLT and BPharm courses. Students will be admitted based on plus two marks.
The cabinet will recommend to the Governor to release 169 prisoners on the Republic Day. The pension of toddy workers have also been hiked to Rs 500. The government has approved an ordinance for giving compensation to workers on accidental deaths |
